ICVHealth Announces New Director of Strategic Relations and Operations
ICVHealth is delighted to introduce Dr. Zena Sharman, ICVHealth’s new Director of Strategic Relations and Operations! Dr. Sharman joins the team with over a decade’s experience in health research, including seven years of senior leadership and management experience at a national health research funding agency.
From 2008 to 2015, Dr. Sharman was the Assistant Director of the CIHR Institute of Gender and Health (IGH), where she worked closely with the Scientific Director on all aspects of IGH’s strategy and operations. In this capacity, she played a key role in the development and implementation of two strategic plans, led a range of national research funding and training initiatives, and fostered meaningful and mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships with diverse stakeholders across Canada and internationally.
She has a PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of British Columbia, a reflection of her longstanding engagement in scholarship and collaboration across the spectrum of health research. She also holds a certificate in the Foundations of Effective Management and Leadership from the Justice Institute of British Columbia.
Dr. Sharman passionately believes in the transformative power of health research, a commitment that is foundational to her career, volunteer work, and writing projects. She looks forward to working with ICVHealth’s team and stakeholders to improve the cardiovascular health of British Columbians through the generation and application of evidence for change.
